1-Day Autumn Alla Prima Oil Painting Workshop- Sat 13th August 10am-4pm

Designed for complete beginners, hobbyists or artists looking to improve their skills, this Alla Prima(Italian for of the first attempt) oil painting workshop will be a fun, informative, relaxed and encouraging experience that will give you all the technical tips you need to excel your oil painting.

Alla Prima, meaning of the first attempt in Italian, is a faster and looser approach to painting. When painting Alla Prima, the artist will expect to finish their painting in one or sometimes two sessions.

As this is an Autumn themed workshop, you will paint an Autumn leaf transitioning between colours.

Follow along with professional artist Diarmaid O’Sullivan as he guides you through how to create your masterpiece from start to finish, giving you lots of painting demos and 1 to 1 advice throughout the day.

In this workshop you will learn about;

1. Colour mixing with a limited palette & how to premix a palette with all the colours that you will need.

2. Blocking-in colours and painting in the basic structures of a leaf

3. Different application methods & how to achieve seamless blends, textures and details to make your painting pop!

4. How to avoid overworking your painting and achieving more with less.

Each participant will be encouraged to ask as many questions as possible throughout the day. The aim of the workshop is to be abundantly informative and, more importantly, incredibly enjoyable and ensure everyone takes home an oil painting to be proud of.
